Crazy-Fun Weekend

Last weekend was an interesting weekend to say the least!  My sons Ben and Seth have a band called Parallax View that play quite a bit. The weekend started Friday traveling to Camp Windermere in Roach, Mo with the band to play at  Lutheran Missouri District Jr. High Gathering.  Close to 900 youth and workers showed up!  The 3 day event was one of the best run retreats I’ve been a part of!  The boys played Worship Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a Saturday night Concert.  About 11:00pm Saturday night after the concert, Chris Guthrie (my right hand setup man at The Bridge) and I drove back to Farmington (3 1/2 hours), loaded up another P.A., and slept an hour or two.  Chris arrived at the Bridge (Elizabeth Hall)  to cleanup from the wedding reception the night before and setup the stage at 4:45 to find the door would not unlock!  I got there at 5:45 to setup the P.A., and they had just got it open.  Our setup crew was already thin because several were at Windermere with the boys, some were on “The Walk To Emaus”, a couple had been called in to work, some didn’t show up,   and getting the door unlocked an hour late really made for an interesting morning!  It took till time for the 9:00am service for us to get everything setup (we usually have band practice at 7:30).  Its a good thing I have a band full of professionals because they pulled it off without a hitch!  I’ve always known that someday something would happen and we wouldn’t be able to get everything going in time, but in 2 years that was the first time it was close!  We were ready at 9:00, and 9:00 and 10:45 went great!  I slept really well Sunday night…..Roger
